Genus-specific response of kelp photosynthetic pigments to decomposition

چکیده

Abstract Detritus is widely considered to be dead organic matter. However, recent studies have shown that kelp detritus can functionally equivalent the attached plant. This significant, because makes up ~ 42% of all plant biomass. In Northeast Atlantic, on detrital photobiology been restricted genus Laminaria . Here, we present data from a 46 d in situ experiment investigating effect decomposition photosynthetic pigment concentrations and stoichiometry four Atlantic species three genera. We corroborate lack pigments cold temperate as identified by previous but show photophysiology other genera responds differently. While Saccharina latissima displays an idiosyncratic parabolic response, annual thermally plastic Saccorhiza polyschides seems become less pigmented with increasing age. If S. becomes increasingly dominant future parts warmer this may translate lower potential at forest scale. given our somewhat ambiguous species, conjecture requires further investigation into photosynthesis.

Study the photosynthetic pigments and phenolic compounds of safflower in response to foliar application of melatonin under water deficit condition

In order to study the effect of melatonin foliar application on photosynthetic pigments’ composition, phenolic compounds and soluble sugars on plants grown from different seed quality of safflower under water deficit condition, two field trials were conducted at Aburaihan Campus, University of Tehran in 2017 and 2018 growing seasons. The experimantal design was split-factorial randomized comple...

Photosynthetic Pigments in Diatoms

Photosynthetic pigments are bioactive compounds of great importance for the food, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical industries. They are not only responsible for capturing solar energy to carry out photosynthesis, but also play a role in photoprotective processes and display antioxidant activity, all of which contribute to effective biomass and oxygen production. Diatoms are organisms of a distinct ...

Photosynthetic pigments of oceanic Chlorophyta belonging to prasinophytes clade VII.

The ecological importance and diversity of pico/nanoplanktonic algae remains poorly studied in marine waters, in part because many are tiny and without distinctive morphological features. Amongst green algae, Mamiellophyceae such as Micromonas or Bathycoccus are dominant in coastal waters while prasinophytes clade VII, yet not formerly described, appear to be major players in open oceanic water...
